Playtime: Activities for Your 15-24-Month-Old

Engaging with your 15 to 24-month-old toddler in various activities can be a lot of fun and also crucial for their development. It will not only enhance their learning but also improve sleep quality at night. Below are some activities to help your little one practice and refine their new skills.

1. Physical Activities:

  • Dance Parties: Put on some kid-friendly tunes and dance around with your toddler.

  • Play Ball: Rolling, throwing, and kicking balls help improve motor skills and coordination.

  • Playgrounds: Visiting a local playground can be an adventure as your toddler explores swings, slides, and other equipment under your supervision.

  • Stroller Walks: Take walks outside with your toddler in a stroller. They might also enjoy a slow-paced push-tricycle ride.

2. Sensory Activities:

  • Texture Play: Let your toddler explore different textures like sand, water, playdough, or even jelly.

  • Water Play: Fill a shallow basin with water and provide cups, spoons, and toys for a fun water play session.

  • Edible Paint: Mix yogurt with food coloring to create toddler-safe paint for a creative yet messy activity.

3. Cognitive Activities 

  • Simple Puzzles: Offer puzzles with large pieces and simple, colorful images.

  • Shape Sorters: These help with identifying shapes and improving hand-eye coordination.

  • Color Sorting: Use colored toys or blocks for a simple color sorting activity

  • Story Time: Attend local library story times or groups to help with socialization and language development.

  • Sticker Play: Give them sheets of stickers to place on paper which is great for fine motor skill development.
